In 2007, Obama gave out $299,000.  He especially targeted Iowa and New Hampshire.  In 2007, Clinton gave $0 and McCain gave $0.

In June 2007, Obama donated to every Democratic member of Congress from Iowa and New Hampshire, including Senator Tom Harkin.

As of March 28, 2008, Obama’s PAC has donated $710,900 to superdelegates – more than three times as much as Clinton’s PAC ($236,100). 

A study showed that the presidential candidate who gave the most money to a superdelegate got their endorsement 82% of the time. – Center for Responsive Politics

“43% of the superdelegates who said they would support Obama got a contribution from him.  ONLY 12% of Clinton’s superdelegates who said they would support her got money.

I have found that in very other instance where superdelegates had an opinion about the nominee, the superdelegates followed the results of the primaries and the caucuses in the states.  If the presence of these automatic delegates and their actions were such that it was perceived, or if in fact one candidate had the people on their side and the other candidate had the superdelegates on his or her side, that one would bother me a great deal.  The perception of that is not good.  It’s obviously a perception of being unfair.”   Don Fowler, former National Chair of the Democratic Party

Major DNC Donor to Party Treasurer: Obama is a Bad Investment

The following is a letter sent to DNC Treasurer Andy Tobias (pictured at right) telling him why, from a rational investor’s point of view, Obama has not earned the author’s vote.  The letter was sent by one of the DNC’s biggest donors, a donor who has historically maxed out to the DNC and who was a maxed out donor in both the Kerry and Clinton campaigns, in response to comments by Tobias that she could not see the forest through the trees.
