Obama And Surrogates Use Race Card on Palin

When Governor Sarah Palin spoke to a group of 10,000 supporters in Carson, California on October 4, 2008, and said per Forbes/AP,

“Our opponent … is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect, imperfect enough, that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country.” She also said, “This is not a man who sees America as you see America and as I see America.”

From that, the Associated Press has mysteriously claimed that Sarah Palin is racist.  Never mind that the once fugitive Ayers has admitted “”I don’t regret setting bombs,” and, ”I feel we didn’t do enough.”  Never mind that founder Ayers helped bring on Obama to chair the Chicago Annenberg Challenge with similar leftist radical educational and political philosophies, and had a long term working relationship that supported his agenda with grant money to the tune of over $100 million.  This among other radical associations.

Yahoo/AP rationale.

Palin’s words avoid repulsing voters with overt racism. But is there another subtext for creating the false image of a black presidential nominee “palling around” with terrorists while assuring a predominantly white audience that he doesn’t see their America?

In a post-Sept. 11 America, terrorists are envisioned as dark-skinned radical Muslims, not the homegrown anarchists of Ayers’ day 40 years ago. With Obama a relative unknown when he began his campaign, the Internet hummed with false e-mails about ties to radical Islam of a foreign-born candidate.

Whether intended or not by the McCain campaign, portraying Obama as “not like us” is another potential appeal to racism. It suggests that the Hawaiian-born Christian is, at heart, un-American.

Most troubling, however, is how allowing racism to creep into the discussion serves McCain’s purpose so well. As the fallout from Wright’s sermons showed earlier this year, forcing Obama to abandon issues to talk about race leads to unresolved arguments about America’s promise to treat all people equally.

Whew!  Where did that come from?  No subtext noted from reading Palin’s Speech.   Palin-bashing Associated Press cries “RAAAACISM!” Subtext taken by the AP, other mainstream media writers, and anyone else with an unrestrained imagination just itching to read something totally different, than the actual words uttered in a speech.  Rein in those vivid imaginations!

Interesting that Palin voicing Obama’s known association with the unremorseful and guilty terrorist bomber, William “Bill” Ayers, became such incendiary material for the Obama campaign.   Must have hurt!  To the point of launching an ad immediately, claiming McCain and Palin using diversion and dishonest tactics from the current economic times to attack Obama.

Odd, Obama did nothing in the ad to disclaim his association with Ayers though!  They did not turn the attack back on the attacker.  They simply ran away and hid under ad guise, and changed the subject matter.  Calling McCain “erratic?” Sounds really like Obama is the erratic one trying to pull the wool over the public’s eye before anymore damaging information gets out.  See ad here at Politico.

Palin defends terrorist comment against Obama as does Tucker Bounds of the McCain-Palin campaign.

“The last four weeks of this election will be about whether the American people are willing to turn our economy and national security over to Barack Obama, a man with little record, questionable judgment, and ties to radical figures like unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers. Americans need to ask themselves if they’ve ever befriended an unrepentant terrorist, or had a convicted felon help them buy their house — because those aren’t smears, those are true facts about Barack Obama.”

Hot Air (AP: Palin’s a racist for bringing up Ayers, or something; Update: McCain camp responds) and Patterico (Any Argument Against Barack Obama Is By Definition Racist) assessed this quite well.  Anytime anyone challenges Obama on an Achilles heel, Obama plays the race card.  Usually indirectly through his minions, or through his mainstream media accomplices, who also are very willing to propagate far reaching falsehoods for their own agenda.
