The Roddenberry’s Will Go On Final Star Trek Frontier

Majel Barrett Roddenberry, wife of Gene Rodenberry, had a wish to spend eternity in space with her husband on their own personal star trek.

Gene Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek, and his wife Majel, the First Lady of Star Trek, will be shot up into space next year.   Per Celestis.

Celestis, Inc. will launch my mother and my father together, side-by-side, on an infinite journey into deep space aboard their Voyager Memorial Spaceflight Service.

Gene died in 1991.  Majel died December 18, 2008.  She previously commissioned Celestis to send up a portion of his remains in 1997.  Per AP.

The couple’s cremated remains will be sealed into specially made capsules designed to withstand the rigors of space travel. A rocket-launched spacecraft will carry the capsules, along with digitized tributes from fans.

Following The Drum Major Rules, But Not The President’s Own Rules

Now here is an example of following the rules.  Especially when they have been discussed repeatedly.

Tipoff: Drum Major John Coleman is suspended for Obama nod at inaugural parade.

Drum Major John Coleman offered a quick nod, a fleeting wave and what looked like a wink — all while keeping stride — as he marched the Cleveland Firefighter’s Memorial Pipes & Drums past President Barack Obama last week.

The band’s leader calls it a violation of the rules, captured by CNN. Coleman has been suspended as drum major for six months.

“We had gone over and over time and again with everyone in the band that this was a military parade. Protocol and proper decorum had to be followed at all times,” said bandleader Pipe Major Mike Engle. “Unfortunately, John chose to ignore that.”

How ironic.  The drum major gets slammed for breaking the rule on the new President.  Yet Barack Obama can break his own ethics rule on bringing in lobbyists into his administration.

The Very Safe Egg Company

Due diligence from The Happy Egg Company indeed.   These folks place high priority on making the contents of their products transparent to avoid any problems, particulalrly with allergy prone individuals.  Beware: The daft egg-box warning that contents ‘may contain eggs’ at the UK Mail.

They don’t want any confusion whatsoever.

Now, that’s just in case the consumer misses the picture of the chicken and the words egg  and eggs all over the egg box.

Never can be too safe.

Now there is a happy company that wants the consumer to click and enjoy its products.

Britain’s Hidden Near Run On The Banks

Revealed: Day the banks were just three hours from collapse at the UK Mail, certainly goes to show how something so important to a nation’s financial system, can remain such a closely guarded secret.

The UK Treasury was apparently 3 hours away from a run on the banks on Friday October 10, 2008.

Yup, only 3 months ago, that country was on the brink of complete financial meltdown.

Big time depositors abroad were about ready to withdraw big time funds all at once, nearly bringing the financial system to its knees.  Fortunately, Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his associates were able to quell the creditors from yanking their cash and sending the country into nationalization.  For their hard work, the banking system averted shutdown of ALL cash withdrawals and transfers.  The doors thus stayed open, and the commoner was none the more privy.

Kudos to Brown and his colleagues.

Now to wonder.  If the UK was able to keep such such a massively important issue from its own people, would any other country, like say, the U.S., ever do such a thing?

English Only Voted Down In Nashville

In a follow up to English-Only Ballot Initiative In Nashville earlier this month, the results have been tabulated.  Nashville’s English-only measure defeated in the Tennessean.

“With the defeat of this amendment, the citizens of Nashville tell the rest of the country that we are an incredibly warm city with an entrepreneurial spirit,” said Tom Oreck, a vacuum cleaner company owner who worked to defeat the measure.

The final was 32,144 for English only and 41,752 against – at about 19 percent, the largest turnout for a special election in a decade.
