White House TV Is OTV

The Adonis syndrome has extended itself into priveleged White House events.  The part where only special people can work.  Forget about the free press.  If there is such a thing.  It is actually now the chosen press.

That’s right.  Where the script can be dictated, performed, and edited to suit one’s preference.

Speech Clash: Cheney Renders, Obama Proselytizes

Mr. Dick Cheney gave a very interesting speech, The United States Has Never Lost Its Moral Bearings, at the American Enterprise Institute May 21, 2009.  A speech that was planned in advance.   The former Vice President once worked at AEI long ago.  The former Congressman from Wyoming.  The former Chief of Staff under Gerald Ford and the former Secretary of Defense under George H.W. Bush, has an experienced understanding of the complexities of national security.  Cheney is a seasoned veteran whose judgment has been honed by his experience.  The speech was cool, collect, factual, and unemotional.

But just to make sure Cheney’s speech would not steal the limelight and expose a litany of flaws in the President’s Gitmo philosophy, Mr. Barack Obama tried to preempt Cheney with his own speech.  One that was  announced after Cheney’s.  Protecting Our Security and Our Values.  A speech that assimilated heavy idealism and emotional tugging  at historical documents, figures, and events, in attempts to assauge critics of its current national security rationale on Guantanamo Bay.

Upshot.

Brick By Brick Cottage Rebuilding Over 23 Years

Moving house: How a little old lady spent 23 years single-handedly dismantling her cottage brick by brick and rebuilding it 100 miles away at the Daily Mail.

A labor of love and determination indeed.

A few descriptives on this woman.  Resilient.  Fortitude.  Irrepressible.   Tenacious.  Stalwart.  Sagacious.

Faith in the human spirit.

James Dean PSA On Fast Driving

A rare look at James Dean in a pubic service announcement on driving fast.  He noted his racing ability on the race track, but never on a highway.  He advised young people to be cautious and safe while driving.  This PSA was made while he was filming the movie “Giant.”

Stay safe this Memorial Day weekend.

Texas Senate Approves Guns On College Campuses

Texas certainly has something going.  They are serious about their guns.

Senate OK’s guns on campus – Measure faces final vote before moving to House.

Could it be that Texans are just a House approval away from allowing guns on college campuses?

The proposal would let private colleges and universities prohibit handguns on their campuses. But public institutions would have to allow Texans with state concealed-handgun permits to possess weapons in dorms and classrooms, a move that administrators have strongly opposed. Under current law, permit holders can carry their weapons on campus grounds but not in stadiums and sporting arenas. That would not change.
