Politics can make for such drama.  But humor can inject a needed laugh every now and then.  The following joke in email circulation is posted as a satirical diversion from the daily political performances.  The political version is found at Free Republic. 

Pope Benedict XVI and Nancy Pelosi are on the same stage in front of a huge crowd.

The Pope leaned towards Mrs. Pelosi and said, “Do you know that with one little wave of my hand I can make every person in this crowd go wild with joy?

This joy will not be a momentary display, like that of your followers, but go deep into their hearts and they’ll forever speak of this day and rejoice!”

Pelosi replied, “I seriously doubt that. With one little wave of your hand? Show me!”

So the Pope slapped her.

It is hard to imagine the Pope doing that, or anyone for that matter.  But words can make for a funnyvisual.

ACORN was the proud recipient of $1.6 million this fiscal year.  ACORN took in $8.2 million between 2003-6.

Does the cash register drawer slamming shut have anything to do with those ACORN hidden videos where workers are captured giving advice on prostitution, child smuggling for sexploitation, tax evasion, and how to obtain a fraudulent government loan for a house of ill repute?

The location.  Yeah.  The location they gonna take the girls.  And I need the .. it’s possible to maybe I… like this is like you say private… because we working with the lawyers…. the district lawyers… district attorneys.  Yeah.  It’s not good.   It’s better if it’s in Tijuana…  Yeah.  Because I have a lot of contacts in Tijuana.  Yeah.  12?  Oh yeah? 

And this is the telephone of office… I’m gonna give you my.. my  private number.  This is a cell phone number…    How much you charge?   No, no. I want to know… How…what is it?  I wanna know…how much they charge.  So how much they charge?  And, and, and what about when the cops,… because I heard the cops..they have a lot of problems from the cops.  Because I have a friends… cops working in that…  it’s a lot of problems with people… they take somebody in the street…  I have two police in my family.  It’s my cousins… Trust the Mexican people, man!  You need to be how they say… be so, ah, careful and everything…  Trust me.   Trust the Mexican people.

Significant Numbers Of Doctors Oppose Obamacare And Would Consider Leaving Profession

Grim Prognosis From Doctors Opposed To Health Care Plan at IBD has the results on a poll of 25,600 doctors in America from august 15th through September 15, 2009 on Obamacare.  The article is chock full of interesting findings.  Points raised ranged from cost, control, and courts were the big three.  Horror stories from doctors with experience working in countries with socialized medicine.  The idea of government managing something so vital and personal as health care is disconcerting, considering its record with other government programs.

Doctor opposition to health care overhaul proposals is broad and deep, revealing concerns not just about soaring costs, declining care, possible rationing and a lack of limits on malpractice suits, but also about government competence and motives, detailed responses to a new IBD/TIPP Poll show.

As reported Wednesday, 65% of the 1,376 practicing physicians who responded to a mailed questionnaire over the last two weeks said they opposed health care plans that have emerged from the administration and Congress. Just 33% supported them.

Perhaps the most shocking result: 45% of these professionals said they would consider closing their practices or retiring early if the reforms now under consideration were enacted.

• Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove of Obama’s job as president.
• Twelve percent (12%) believe most opponents of the President’s health care plan are racists.

It probably does not help that Obama Admin: Cap And Trade Could Cost Families $1,761 A Year or that EXCLUSIVE: W.H. collects Web users’ data without notice, Social-media messages go into archives.

Remember.  Rasmussen’s numbers are from people who are voters, not just any adult, giving their polling  more credibility than others.

Selling Medicare Cuts, $856 Billion Price Tag, And Taxes On Insurance The Obamacare Way

Seems like the White House has plenty of free time to devote to pushing its health care reform.  Probably becasue Obama Hits and Misses, Speech Rallies His Backers, Leaves Bruises.   Now that is blatantly obvious that public support has diminished to worrisome levels, the President will hit the airwaves again to try convincing America about his grand solution.  He might want to reconsider, since his prime time speech to the Joint Session of Congress September 12, 2009, ended up with one congressman noting, Rangel: Obama speech made health bill harder to sell.

Indeed.  Health Care Reform Opposition to Health Care Reform Reaches New High at 55% from Rasmussen as of Tuesday September 15, 2009.

It could be because Baucus unveils long-awaited bill: $856B, cuts Medicare, taxes plans.  The sordid truth emerges.  Your Medicare will be cut.  Your insurance plan will be taxed.  And it will cost you the taxpayer, $856 billion.  That is probably why Dem Senator Warns of ‘Big, Big Tax’ on Middle Class in Baucus Bill.  The young’ns can now feel some forced participation, considering their vast support in electing Obama.  Young Adults Likely to Pay Big Share of Reform’s Cost.  So much for the bubbly hope and change, and vehement promises that it was not going to happen.  But it will if the Baucus bill goes through. 

Therefore, it is logical that a rescue maneuver be instituted immediately.  Obama adds Letterman to aggressive media schedule for health plan, an easy venue to schedule considering he has been on the show five times previously.  Obama will be the only guest on Letterman.  He has pushed his way onto the Sunday morning talk shows on CBS, CNN, ABC, and NBC also.    They will probably have other guests however. 

Obamacare is a tough sell.  Image is everything, and it probably is made tougher when folks see the other things he is doing like Barack Obama Painted Living Room Rather Than Visit Ground Zero On 9-11.  Or when others beyond America are formulating world opinion about the President with things like Group once linked to Barack Obama taped giving advice to ‘brothel owners’, and a sleazy terrorist who extols Bin Laden: Barack Obama Is Powerless.

 Tough times, call for tough salesmanship on teevee by Dr. America.

Congressman Pete Stark And The Lies Claimed In A House Speech

Politicians seem to  relish in self righteous behaviour when it suits them.  Here we have Representative Pete Stark get on his soap box.

Stark had no difficulty uttering the word “lies” about a president.  The difference between him and Joe Wilson from South Carolina, is that Stark did it in debate with another congressman, whereas Wilson uttered the words “You lie!” directly at the President during a speech to Joint Session of Congress.  Wikipedia has some interesting facts.

On October 18, 2007, Stark made the following comments on the House floor during a debate with Congressman Joe Barton of Texas: “Republicans sure don’t care about finding $200 billion to fight the illegal war in Iraq. Where are you going to get that money? Are you going to tell us lies like you’re telling us today? Is that how you’re going to fund the war? You don’t have money to fund the war or children. But you’re going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the President’s amusement.”

Ironic Surrealism takes note at 1:55 in the video.

But the President Bush’s statements about children’s health shouldn’t be taken any more seriously than his lies about the war in Iraq. The truth is that Bush just likes to blow things up in Iraq, in the United States, and in Congress.
