Empty Slate Masquerades True White House Agenda

O’s ‘blank screen’.  NYP.  The self-described Obama notion that people have projected their own political views and desires upon him, which was subsequently appealing enough to catapult his executively-challenged experienced resume to the White House.   And now, the disappointing reality behind the elitist’s performance and associations thus far.

The cool and reasonable candidate who gave hope to his voters, who promised to rise above the ugly politics and big money of Washington, is turning out to be as conventional a politician as any other. Indeed, as he runs a permanent campaign from the White House, he is proving to be more committed to protecting the vested interests of his party than standing up for actual change.

Some might say there is a permanent interest in maintaining power, but not necessarily the responsibility that goes with wielding it.

In contrast, President Obama’s praise for the free market and individual liberty just doesn’t ring true — because his record does not reflect his rhetoric. His actions show a fundamental disconnect with American values — a disconnect that won’t be dispelled with captivating speeches, no matter how masterfully delivered.

’09 budget deficit tripled to $1.4 trillion - “Biggest gap since 1945.”  Washington Times.

Joe Biden: the worrying rise of Barack Obama’s Mr Wrong.  Telegraph.  The very public wavering decision-maker Mr. Obama on the Afghanistan war, as his Vice President provides his effluent talking and friendly skills as previous chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee.  Never mind Mr. Biden’s important global-affecting decisions “being on the wrong side of history” so far.   Likewise, his current differing counter-terrosim plus proposal on Afghanistan, from that of General Stanley McChrystal’s counter-insurgency doctrine.

The real difficulty with Mr Biden, however, is his judgement.

And of course, all those associates Mr. Obama has chosen.  Ship of Fools: Obama’s Intimates and Advisors.  AT.

…three dominant themes of the Obama Administration emerge – fanatically uncompromising anti-capitalism, dangerous and blatant anti-Semitism, and the societal inculcation of dogmatic Leftist, Socialist “faith” through indoctrination of American school children beginning with the earliest ages – a practice instituted by Lenin in Communist Russia and now pounding its way into the American academic mainstream through the prolific efforts and  influence of self-proclaimed Communist, Obama friend, and likely “autobiography” ghost writer, William Ayers, as well as Obama appointees like Charles Freeman and Kevin Jennings.

Make no mistake.  These people are about Socialism, and they are about power.  Their power.

U.S. troop funds diverted to pet projects.  “Study finds $2.6 billion taken from guns and ammunition” from  U.troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Washington Times.

An Olympic Ego Trip.  WP.

Both Obamas gave heartfelt speeches about . . . themselves.   …narcissism has suddenly become an Olympic sport.

In the 41 sentences of her remarks, Michelle Obama used some form of the personal pronouns ”I” or “me” 44 times. Her husband was, comparatively, a shrinking violet, using those pronouns only 26 times in 48 sentences. Still, 70 times in 89 sentences conveyed the message that somehow their fascinating selves were what made, or should have made, Chicago’s case compelling.

Narcissism.  The White House pushing its own “personal” agenda.

Frosty Lounge In Beer Cooler Section

So much for going for a beer run.  Try a relaxing Thursday evening out on the town instead.  Bear shops in Hayward store.  Sawyer County Record.  Bear Makes Beer Run in Wisconsin.  AP/Fox.

Thus, one Hayward, Wisconsin 125-pound black bear cub casually made headway through a liquor store’s automatic doors for the frosty beer refrigerated section.  The calm bear found a comfortable place atop a 12-foot cooler shelf and relaxed for approximately one hour.  All the while without imbibing in the surrounding brew.  Until store employees could clear the “lounge” of the other patrons, so animal officials could promptly tranquilize the bear for removal to a safe location for all.

Now there is one bear who electively exhibited some youthful self control over brewski indulgence.  The temperature must have been just about right.

Disappointment In New Orleans And Beyond

The Biggest Disappointment of the Obama Presidency.  Eugene Robinson.  WP.

President Obama’s brief display of drive-by compassion Thursday in New Orleans was, for me, by far the worst outing of his presidency thus far — and the biggest disappointment.

Red Skelton And The Meaning Behind The Pledge Of Allegiance

For all Americans.  Comedian Red Skelton gives a salient lesson through a line by line meaning behind the Pledge of Allegiance.  Heart warming.  Elected officials, pay heed.

Best line.

And to the Republic… Republic… a state in which sovereign power is invested in representative chosen by the people to govern, and government is the people, and its from the people to the leaders, not from the leaders to the people.

Nobel Obel Joker Prize

Looks like everyone should get a prize, just like from the bottom of every Cracker Jack box.

The Nobel Show Horse.  The American Spectator.

By awarding the prize on the basis of hopes and not accomplishments the Norwegians helped Americans bring focus to an uncomfortable, widely held feeling that with Mr. Obama it’s all about him, all the time.

At the recent International Olympic Committee in Copenhagen his pitch — and his wife’s — were filled with personal pronouns.

For all the personal pronouns and perennial campaigning, the prizes have continued unabated.

Bemused, the chairman of the Nobel Prize Committee, Mr. Thorbjørn Jagland, on the beclowning of the Nobel Peace Prize Recipient, President Barack Obama.  Big image here

“Oh, for heaven’s sake,” says Labour Party politician Jagland. “Everyone needs to lighten up a bit. We thought awarding a Nobel prize to that silly little man in the White House was so painfully obvious a joke that no explanation would be necessary. We thought the whole world would join us in healthy, therapeutic laughter.”

The Flat Tire Before The Final Exam

Joke of the day.

The joy of college freedom.  The creativity of excuses.  Also at Humor 7h.

At Penn State University , there were four sophomores taking chemistry and all of them had an ‘A’ so far. These four friends were so confident that, the weekend before finals, they decided to visit some friends and have a big party. They had a great time but, after all the hearty partying, they slept all day Sunday and didn’t make it back to Penn State until early Monday morning.

Rather than taking the final then, they decided that after the final they would explain to their professor why they missed it. They said that they visited friends but on the way back they had a flat tire. As a result, they missed the final. The professor agreed they could make up the final the next day. The guys were excited and relieved. They studied that night for the exam.

The next day the Professor placed them in separate rooms and gave them a test booklet. They quickly answered the first problem worth 5 points. Cool, they thought! Each one in separate rooms, thinking this was going to be easy… then they turned the page. On the second page was written…

For 95 points: Which tire? _________

Visualizing High Priced Health Care Bill Passed By Senate Finance Committee

Finance passes healthcare bill; Snowe the lone GOP supporter.  The Hill.  Snowe the moderate Republican, or as some believe, the RINO Republican In Name Only, went along her independent way to appease the Democrats.  So off to the House and Senate we now go for Obamacare is just around the corner.

A preview of things to come from Hippie Critic?  Hey… You Get What You Pay For.  I Own The World.  Looks like they pegged it well.

“Obamacare in the year 2016.  Not only is this healthcare free for you, but it’s paid for by taxing  the rich…I’ll bet that makes you feel better.”

White House, Dems reject Price Waterhouse study.  AT.

Unless you want to believe that one of the most prestigious accounting firms in the country is cooking the books for political purposes, the Price Waterhouse study released yesterday that shows a shattering increase in health insurance premiums for families over the next decade under Obamacare spells huge trouble for the Democrats.

So, of course, they attack it.

High price of Obamacare.  Dick Morris at The Hill.

So Obama’s program turns out not to be one to spread insurance and thus spread the risk of costly illness, but one to make people pay 7.5 percent of their incomes once they get sick, with the government picking up their remaining premium and the health insurance customers paying for the medical expenses. Some deal!

So tote up the cost of this bill on the middle class:

  • $1,700 more in insurance premiums for the average family
  • Medical devices like wheelchairs and hearing aids get taxed
  • Those who are sick must pay an average of about $600 more a year in income taxes because the bill raises the threshold for deducting medical expenses from 7.5 percent of income to 10 percent
  • A $404 billion cut in Medicare
  • Ending the subsidized Medicare Advantage insurance for costs over and above Medicare. Without Medicare Advantage, the elderly can only augment Medicare by buying Medigap coverage, for which no subsidy is available and whose premiums are higher (offered, conveniently enough, by Obama’s buddies at the AARP)
  • No importation of Canadian medicines and no competitive bidding to hold down prescription drug costs (Obama’s deal to get Pharma’s support and advertising dollars)
  • A shortage of medical personnel and equipment as 30 million new patients are added without any expansion of the population of doctors and nurses. This shortage will make rationing inevitable, even if it shortens life expectancies among the elderly.

See any problems with Obamacare here?

Prank Splash The School Kids Yields Careless Driving Charge

Does splashing school kids at a bus stop seem like a fun idea?  In theory, to some.  In reality to a Plymouth, Devon, UK woman and her male passenger.

18 4525 Driver soaks children at Plymouth bus stop

October 11, 2009

Driver Charged For Splashing School Kids at Sky News reports on one British woman’s foray into the pranks of drivers upon curbside school children awaiting the bus in the rain.

A 29-year old woman driving from the traditional UK right hand driver’s seat, going down a hill on the left hand lane, found some unsuspecting victims already soaked by drizzling rain at the bottom of a hill.  In accelerating fashion, the splash doused the kids to her and her passenger’s glee.  But not the kids.

The You Tube video they posted of the event with play by play commentary led to complaints of course, and ultimately a charge of careless driving.  Sky News video here also.

Driving through a puddle to splash bystanders is an offence of “careless, and inconsiderate, driving” under the Road Traffic Act section 3 and carries a fine of up to £2,500.

Good thing the kids are okay.  Probably dry by now.

Hot Air has a satirical analogy.

It would also drive other providers out of business, leaving us with an Aeroflot analog as our only option.  The American Aeroflot would only take us to destinations it decides to serve, too, once all of the other players got forced out of the industry.
