Invisible Bottle Trick

Cool magic trick.

Make an invisible bottle!

December 5, 2009

Remember.  Glycerin emptied into a large glass container.  Tabasco bottle clean, filled with glycerin, then dipped into a large glass container partially filled with glycerin.  Presto!

Key.  The index of refraction is the same for the glycerin and the bottle.

Unemployment Rates Deteriorate Before Your Very Eyes

The Decline:  The Geography Of A Recession.  Latoya Egwuekwe.

An easy to understand visual on unemployment rates by county on a big U.S. map.

Dark, darker…gloomy.  Any surprise?

Best animated image here or see the You Tube video.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are more than 31 million people currently unemployed — that’s including those involuntarily working parttime and those who want a job, but have given up on trying to find one. In the face of the worst economic upheaval since the Great Depression, millions of Americans are hurting. “The Decline: The Geography of a Recession,” as created by labor writer LaToya Egwuekwe, serves as a vivid representation of just how much. Watch the deteriorating transformation of the U.S. economy from January 2007 — approximately one year before the start of the recession — to the most recent unemployment data available today. Senate Majority Leader Equates Health Care Opposition With Slavery Support

Reid Compares Opponents of Health Care Reform to Supporters of Slavery.  Fox.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid took his GOP-blasting rhetoric to a new level Monday, comparing Republicans who oppose health care reform to lawmakers who clung to the institution of slavery more than a century ago.

The Nevada Democrat, in a sweeping set of accusations on the Senate floor, also compared health care foes to those who opposed women’s suffrage and the civil rights movement — even though it was Sen. Strom Thurmond, then a Democrat, who unsuccessfully tried to filibuster the Civil Rights Act of 1957 and it was Republicans who led the charge against slavery.

Senate Republicans on Monday called Reid’s comments “offensive” and “unbelievable.”

Reid certainly lacks respectability by bringing historical blight into modern day Senate activities.

Perhaps Reid is completely unaware of the concerns of conservatives, moderates, liberals, Independents, Democrats, and Republicans who see through the smokescreen of the current health care reform they are trying to pass.  He would be wise to thoroughly review and answer the legitimate questions being raised by current Senate Republicans and others.  Otherwise, and it looks mighty unfavorable of Reid that he is equating their issues along the same vein as supporters of slavery.

The Japanese attack on the US Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii was the event that directly led to US involvement in the Second World War. The attack that started at 7.55 on Sunday morning December 7, 1941, led to the deaths of 2,400 Americans, with another 1,178 injured. Within two hours, five battleships had been sunk, and another 16 damaged. 188 aircraft were destroyed. But the main target – 3 US aircraft carriers – usually stationed at Pearl Harbor, but assigned elsewhere on that day, escaped damage.

Big Brother Wants To Manage American Health Care

Nat Hentoff: The cold heart of Obamacare.  The Orange County Register.

Everyone, regardless of political party, should keep in mind:

“If doctors and hospitals are rewarded for complying with government-mandated treatment measures or penalized if they do not comply, clearly, federal bureaucrats are directing health decisions,” Groopman and Hartzband wrote.

If congressional Democrats succeed in passing their health care “reform” measure to send to the White House for President Obama’s signature, then they and he are determining your health decisions.

Also remember that these functionaries making decisions about your treatment and, in some cases, about the extent of your lifespan, have never met you. They do not know your name, have not spoken directly to your doctor, and, of course, haven’t the slightest idea of what your wishes are. Is this America?

The Senate rarely convenes on weekends.  But they are doing it now.  All under the guise of ramming health care reform Democrat-style  fast track, without due consideration for the inherent dangers involved in allowing government to come between doctor and patient.

Your doctor is your best health care advocate.  Your government has a health bill filled with regulations about how your care will be managed.  Just like they efficiently manage other governmental programs like the Post Office.   ”We know what’s best for you.”

Is this what presidential candidate Barack Obama meant by “Change we can believe in?” Even if you voted for him, is this the change you will believe in if your doctor is overruled by the government in his or her treatment decisions about you?

Think slowly and clearly before you answer this question.  Your response is crucial, and your life may depend on it.

Lucid Lessons From Senior Veteran To President

America’s senior citizens are chock full of life’s experiences.  Having travailed far longer than their younger counterparts, they typically can interpret intentions and actions with ease and on the mark.  At times with razor sharp precision.

Take a look at what a veteran in his nineties has to say about the course one certain President has taken thus far.  And he has something to say about one certain First Lady as well.  WW II Battleship sailor tells Obama to shape up or ship out !  The Absurd Report.  Also at Clip Marks.

Snopes notes the letter is authentic.

Thank you for your innquiry [sic].  The letter is REAL and so is Harold Estes.  A retired Master Chief Boatswains Mate, he dictated the letter to a secretary who printed it and Harold signed it personally.  Thus Harold is the author, a dear friend, a very well known Navy leaguer and so please do mark this TRUE.

Dear President Obama,

My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People meeting me for the first time don’t believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.

I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos’n Mate. Now I live in a “rest home” located on the western end of Pearl Harbor, allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country.

One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man.

So here goes.

I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish.

I can’t figure out what country you are the president of.

You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like:

  • “We’re no longer a Christian nation”
  • “America is arrogant” – (Your wife even announced to the world,”America is mean-
spirited. ” Please tell her to try preaching that nonsense to 23 generations of our
war dead buried all over the globe who died for no other reason than to free a
whole lot of strangers from tyranny and hopelessness.)

I’d say shame on the both of you, but I don’t think you like America, nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.

After 9/11 you said,” America hasn’t lived up to her ideals.”

Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British? Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War? I hope you didn’t mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom.

I don’t think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected.

Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man.

Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don’t, I’ll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue. You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.

And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don’t want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts, who was putting up a fight? You don’t mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don’t want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.

One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you’re the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you’re not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you’re thinking of.

You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president.

You’re not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That’s not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now.

And I sure as hell don’t want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle.

Sincerely,

Harold B. Estes

White House Social Secretary Busy As Guest At State Dinner Instead Of Working The Gatekeeper Door

Knives come out for Obama’s ‘preening’ social secretary.  The Independent UK.

Wow.  Looks like the White House party crashers, Michaele and Tareq Salahi, did not just walk into the first U. S. State dinner of their own accord.  It was facilitated by White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers, who instead of minding gatekeeper duty, found herself immersed in the extravagant social event.  Never mind that the White House Social Secretary has historically been strictly responsible for orchestrating these events, not sashaying and mingling about as “an invited guest.”

Bottom line, White House social secretary broke protocol.   Not only that, she declined to testify at a House Committee on Homeland Security hearing on how the Salahi’s got into the dinner. White House spokeman Robert Gibbs chimed in her quite puzzling excuse.

“based on separation of powers.”

Next up, will she just be admonished, or will her boss(es), Barack and Michelle Obama, send her and her fellow Chicago-style skill set back to where that kind of socializing on the job is practiced?

O aide’s crasher ‘confession’.  NYP.  It appears Desiree Rogers used to make it a routine to let “extras” in to the parties months before the recent debacle.
