Health Care Mandate First Was Not A Tax But Now Is A Tax

Obama Admin. Argues in Court That Individual Mandate Is a Tax.  The American Spectator.

“”This is an about face from what is laid out in the law,” said Karen Harned of the National Federation of Independent Business, which joined the Florida lawsuit against ObamaCare. “In the text of the healthcare law, the findings for passing an individual mandate specifically rely on the effects of individuals on the national economy and interstate commerce. Nowhere in the findings is the mandate referred to as a tax. The Justice Department is now calling it a tax to try and convince the court not to rule on whether or not Congress exceeded their authority under the Commerce Clause by legislating that all citizens must purchase private health insurance or face a penalty.”

Put another way, the administration is now arguing in federal court that Obama signed a massive middle-class tax increase, in violation of his campaign pledge.

Anything to save face for Obama and the Democrats.

Realize though that you will be paying for everyone else’s heath care.  That IS a tax.  Not a volunteer contribution on the IRS form.

Alas, mainstream media is beginning to see something many people knew a very long time ago.

The reviews of Obama’s performance have been disappointing. He has seemed uncomfortable in the role of leading other nations, and often seems to suggest there is nothing special about America’s role in the world. The global community was puzzled over the pictures of Obama bowing to some of the world’s leaders and surprised by his gratuitous criticisms of and apologies for America’s foreign policy under the previous administration of George W. Bush. One Middle East authority, Fouad Ajami, pointed out that Obama seems unaware that it is bad form and even a great moral lapse to speak ill of one’s own tribe while in the lands of others.

America right now appears to be unreliable to traditional friends, compliant to rivals, and weak to enemies. One renowned Asian leader stated recently at a private dinner in the United States, “We in Asia are convinced that Obama is not strong enough to confront his opponents, but we fear that he is not strong enough to support his friends.”

Past Performance Key To Democrats Future

Looks again  like the Democrats driving off a cliff.  Washington Examiner. 

But 2010 is not 2008. With a sparse legislative record and no executive experience, candidate Obama could get away with vague, comforting generalities about a better tomorrow. The president does not have that luxury. He must defend a record and an agenda that includes highly unpopular government takeovers of the banking, auto and health care industries, as well as pending cap-and-trade legislation that will inevitably drive up the cost of energy.

Why It Took 58 Days Before Obama Talked To BP On Oil Spill

The 58-day delay in talking to British Petroleum about their oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, makes President Barack Obama look incapable of leadership ability.  

The following video was made by the RNC, however, it could have been made by any organization with an interest in the well being of America, and in particular, the Gulf states who are the direct recipients of the oil leak wrath.   Michael Steele, Chairman of the RNC pointed out what the rest of America has long been discussing. 

And what will continue to plague the inept leader of the free world, who believes in recreation before a nation’s crisis.  Very unbecoming of a “president.”

“Over the past 58 days since the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded tragically killing 11 workers, President Obama and his administration have dithered while the worst ecological disaster in American history has unfolded, wreaking environmental and economic havoc up and down the Gulf Coast. Leadership from this White House has been severely lacking. Since April 20^th when this catastrophe began, President Obama has made the time to play six rounds of golf, take two vacations, attend two concerts, and go on cross-country fundraising junkets but not to pick up the phone and speak directly with the executives of BP. The Administration’s number one priority needs to be stopping this leak, cleaning up the damage, finding out what went wrong, and making sure nothing like this ever happens again. The American people are looking for Presidential leadership during this time of crisis, not executive finger pointing or backroom political power-plays seeking to force through yet another unpopular Democratic proposal that would only devastate the economy even further.”

Exodus From Arizona Before Immigration Bill Enforcement Begins

Illegals leaving Arizona over new law.  One News Now.

It appears the goal of the Arizona immigration enforcement law is coming to fruition.

“What this demonstrates is that illegal aliens are rational people. They respond to rational messages,” Mehlman says. “And we make it clear that you’re not going to benefit by coming to the United States or coming to Arizona and remaining illegally. They get that message and decide it’s time to go.”

Mehlman says this report should encourage every other state in the U.S. to adopt Arizona’s hard-hitting statute.

“As long as there are other places in the country that are willing to turn a blind eye or even reward illegal immigration, you’re going to find illegal aliens going to those places where breaking the law is rewarded,” he says. “So those states have a choice to make: Do they want to follow suit and do what Arizona has done and institute laws that protect the citizens in those states?”

If other states welcome these people with open arms now, how much longer before they find their guests have overstayed their welcome, the way the state of Arizona has experienced?  Or will they actively encourage violation of American federal immigration laws?

Obamacare Looking To Take Over Private Health Care Insurance

the draft regs envision more than half of all policies having to change within three years — an unmistakable break with President’s Obama’s oft-repeated promise, “If people like their insurance, they will be able to keep it.”

Ultimately, these rules force consumers to buy one of just four health policies — which vary mostly only by trading off higher co-payments for lower premiums, while offering essentially the same actual benefits. In arguing for passage of the law, ObamaCare’s defenders claimed the rules were aimed at health plans sold in the “exchanges.” Oops: Now Sebelius is applying them to employer plans. Eventually, this would force all but the very wealthiest Americans into a single government-designed insurance scheme.
