Hungry Goats Eat Up Los Angeles Brush

Tired of mowing the lawn?  There is an  alternative.

Weed-Whacking Goats Will Work For Food.  NPR.  They have already saved the City of Los Angeles a tidy sum of $3000 over manual clean-up and insecticides.

Let the goats snack away on undesirable vegetation.

Presidential Boasting And Bashing

The selective modesty of Barack Obama.  WP.  From the apology tour to self-aggrandizement.  Plenty of bashing nuggets in the WP post.  Then there is the boasting.

Charles Krauthammer.  The man’s training as a psychiatrist continues to provide endless precise analysis of whomever and whatever he has on hand to dissect.   His observations and assessment are astute.

It’s fine to recognize the achievements of others and be non-chauvinistic about one’s country. But Obama’s modesty is curiously selective. When it comes to himself, modesty is in short supply.

It began with the almost comical self-inflation of his presidential campaign, from the still inexplicable mass rally in Berlin in front of a Prussian victory column to the Greek columns framing him at the Democratic convention. And it carried into his presidency, from his posture of philosopher-king adjudicating between America’s sins and the world’s to his speeches marked by a spectacularly promiscuous use of the word “I.”

Notice, too, how Obama habitually refers to Cabinet members and other high government officials as “my” — “my secretary of homeland security,” “my national security team,” “my ambassador.” The more normal — and respectful — usage is to say “the,” as in “the secretary of state.” These are, after all, public officials sworn to serve the nation and the Constitution — not just the man who appointed them.

Fusing more recent events together with the past, helps provide perspective.  This is not just a one time deal.  There is a little history going on here.

It’s a stylistic detail, but quite revealing of Obama’s exalted view of himself. Not surprising, perhaps, in a man whose major achievement before acceding to the presidency was writing two biographies — both about himself.

And of course, Krauthhammer saves the most succinct statement for last.

What is odd is to have a president so convinced of his own magnificence — yet not of his own country’s.

Narcissism comes to mind.

Doctor Signals Problems With Obamacare

This Doctor Fights Obamacare One Patient at a Time.  The Foundry at The Heritage Foundation.

The consequences are startling. At a time when the Obama administration promises more people will have health insurance, there might not be enough doctors to treat them. Boone said physicians in their 50s are retiring early and young people are choosing other professions.

Opening up the floodgates of health care coverage via expansion of Medicare and Medicaid is a facade that is unsustainable.

Boone has two employees who spend most of their time fighting with the government over payment problems.

Two employees just to clean up and clear out paperwork and preauthorizations per insurance companies?  No wonder there aren’t enough people around to actually take care of the patients.  And the doctor who has to squeeze in more patients with less time per patient, in order to cover the salaries of all those office workers.  That is a drain of human resources that should be best applied toward patient care, not insurance company capricious logistics.

“I absolutely detest that part of my life,” she said in disgust.

She said the situation became so bad with Medicaid, an insurance program for the poor, that she stopped seeing those patients four years ago. When the government paid none of its Medicaid bills for 18 months, Boone simply gave up. She doesn’t want the same to happen with Medicare, given the difficulties patients are already experiencing.

Video: ObamaCare’s impact on doctors.  Hot Air.  True.

Democrats didn’t want to fix the real problems of compensation and access, many of which originate with the government, but be seen to fix problems they defined in terms of hypothetical access. Expanding Medicaid means that Democrats can claim to have covered more people. But does that help when providers are dumping Medicaid? Does that cut costs within the system when Medicaid patients are the most likely to overutilize emergency rooms, thanks to the perverse economic outcomes Medicaid creates when clinic providers won’t see them thanks to low reimbursement rates?

The answer is no.

Feds Sue Arizona Over Immigration Despite Ability To Process Only 4% Illegals Caught Yearly

U.S. Sues Arizona on Immigration Bill That Tries to ‘Second Guess’ Fed.  Courthouse News Service.

It was inevitable.  The feds just cannot fathom the very idea that they could be exposed for their gross incapability of doing the job they are sworn to uphold.  So instead of owning it, they hide behind a litany of excuses.  The reality is stark though.

Immigration and Customs Release Memo Showing Agency Only Has Resources To Remove 4% of Illegal Aliens Per Year.  CNS News.

John Morton, assistant secretary of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), said that enforcing civil immigration laws is vital to “our national security, public safety, and the integrity of our border and immigration controls.”

But Morton also said that ICE only has the resources to remove about 400,000 illegal aliens each year, a little less than 4 percent of the current population of those in the United States illegally

Seeing that ICE hasn’t the slightest ability to do their own jobs, it would behoove them to allow states to help.  However, the greatest irony here, is the violin-playing excuses the feds give in defense of courting illegals, and not protecting its own citizens by carrying out their own duties.

The issue of Arizona attempting to “second-guess” federal immigration laws that have been in place for a very long time, is also a surprising notion.  Especially since the Arizona law is nothing more than what the feds already have on the books.

Let us not forget how the feds, with the consent of President Barack Obama of course, have risen to the current occasion of managing illegal immigration.

Brewer to Obama: Warning Signs Are Not Enough

June 25, 2010

Odd the lawsuit claims the following, yet the Arizona law is merely mirrors current federal law.  It does not supercede  or enact anything new or beyond current federal law, nor attempt to regulate immigration.

S.B. 1070 is preempted by federal law and therefore violates the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution.

In our constitutional system, the federal government has preeminent authority to regulate immigration matters.

Granted the feds have the Supremacy clause on their side, but the state is not doing anything beyond federal law.  An interesting show down looming.

DOJ Favors Reverse Discriminination By Failing To Prosecute Black Panther Voter Intimidation

Back Channels: Panther case dismissal needs explanation.  Philadelphia Inquirer.

“Some of my coworkers,” Adams continued, “argued that the law should not be used against black wrongdoers because of the long history of slavery and segregation. … Incredibly, after the case was dismissed, instructions were given that no more cases against racial minorities like the Black Panther case would be brought by the [Justice Department's] Voting Section.”

What?  Aren’t the laws of this country supposed to be followed by everyone, regardless of race?

Now think about this, and whether this represents voter intimidation at the voting poll.

Samir Shabazz, head of the Philadelphia chapter of the New Black Panther Party, and party member Jerry Jackson were “deployed” in front of a Fairmount Avenue polling place in “military style uniforms.”

Shabazz brandished a nightstick. He “pointed the weapon at individuals, menacingly tapped it [in] his other hand, or menacingly tapped it elsewhere.” Both Shabazz and Jackson leveled “racial threats and racial insults at both black and white individuals,” and they “made menacing and intimidating gestures, statements, and movements directed at individuals who were present to aid voters.”

Sure does look like reverse discrimination fully and openly practiced by the U.S. Justice Department, and condoned by the current President of the United States, Barack Obama, for not holding the Justice Department accountable for violating the Voting Rights Act of 1965.  A highlight to refresh memory.

SEC. 11. (b) No person, whether acting under color of law or otherwise, shall intimidate, threaten, or coerce, or attempt to intimidate, threaten, or coerce any person for voting or attempting to vote, or intimidate, threaten, or coerce, or attempt to intimidate, threaten, or coerce any person for urging or aiding any person to vote or attempt to vote, or intimidate, threaten, or coerce any person for exercising any powers or duties under section 3(a), 6, 8, 9, 10, or 12(e).

One might think a D.C. attorney such as Samir Malik Shabazz might have learned in law school.   Or at the least, practiced as the Chairman of the National Black Panther Party.

Then there is Minister King Samir Shabazz.  This from the Philadelphia Daily News which no longer has the link active, but found through The Tree Of Liberty.

In black beret atop dreadlocks and a black military uniform, he spends most weekdays near City Hall condemning “crackers” and exhorting black passers-by to rise up against their “slavemasters” – and to give him $2 for the party’s semi-annual newspaper.

* On whites: “I’m about the total destruction of white people. I’m about the total liberation of black people. I hate white people. I hate my enemy. . . .”

* On Jews: “I don’t care how much they try to promote the Jewish Holocaust. The African people have suffered a hell of a cost. . . . “

* On Barack Obama and voting: “He’s a puppet on a string. I don’t support no black man running for white politics. I will not vote for who will be the next slavemaster.” Besides, he added, Obama is “a Negro who doesn’t even support reparations for black people in America.”

* On white supremacists: “They’re sissies; they want to put their feelings on a flier. Well, come into the black neighborhood with that rhetoric and we will show you what a strong awakened black man looks like.”

Interesting that just as career Justice Department lawyers had closed in on the case, and obtained default summary judgment against the Black Panthers, default meaning they won the case because the Black Panthers did not show up in court, they were ordered by supervisors to drop the case altogether.  The deciders.  Acting-Assistant Attorney General Loretta King, appointed by President Barack Obama, and Associate Attorney General Thomas Perrelli, who raised $500,000 for Obama for president.

Makes impartiality on the decision quite suspect, eh?

Mainstream Media Silence On DOJ Failure To Prosecute Black Panthers For Voter Intimidation.  A tacit acceptance of the openly illegal activities of the New Black Panthers November 2008, and the flagrant and egregious disregard for the law by the United State Justice Department on that case.

Obviously, justice for those deemed politically worthy and/or convenient.
