Back Channels: Panther case dismissal needs explanation. Philadelphia Inquirer.
“Some of my coworkers,” Adams continued, “argued that the law should not be used against black wrongdoers because of the long history of slavery and segregation. … Incredibly, after the case was dismissed, instructions were given that no more cases against racial minorities like the Black Panther case would be brought by the [Justice Department's] Voting Section.”
What? Aren’t the laws of this country supposed to be followed by everyone, regardless of race?
Now think about this, and whether this represents voter intimidation at the voting poll.
Samir Shabazz, head of the Philadelphia chapter of the New Black Panther Party, and party member Jerry Jackson were “deployed” in front of a Fairmount Avenue polling place in “military style uniforms.”
Shabazz brandished a nightstick. He “pointed the weapon at individuals, menacingly tapped it [in] his other hand, or menacingly tapped it elsewhere.” Both Shabazz and Jackson leveled “racial threats and racial insults at both black and white individuals,” and they “made menacing and intimidating gestures, statements, and movements directed at individuals who were present to aid voters.”
Sure does look like reverse discrimination fully and openly practiced by the U.S. Justice Department, and condoned by the current President of the United States, Barack Obama, for not holding the Justice Department accountable for violating the Voting Rights Act of 1965. A highlight to refresh memory.
SEC. 11. (b) No person, whether acting under color of law or otherwise, shall intimidate, threaten, or coerce, or attempt to intimidate, threaten, or coerce any person for voting or attempting to vote, or intimidate, threaten, or coerce, or attempt to intimidate, threaten, or coerce any person for urging or aiding any person to vote or attempt to vote, or intimidate, threaten, or coerce any person for exercising any powers or duties under section 3(a), 6, 8, 9, 10, or 12(e).
One might think a D.C. attorney such as Samir Malik Shabazz might have learned in law school. Or at the least, practiced as the Chairman of the National Black Panther Party.
Then there is Minister King Samir Shabazz. This from the Philadelphia Daily News which no longer has the link active, but found through The Tree Of Liberty.
In black beret atop dreadlocks and a black military uniform, he spends most weekdays near City Hall condemning “crackers” and exhorting black passers-by to rise up against their “slavemasters” – and to give him $2 for the party’s semi-annual newspaper.
* On whites: “I’m about the total destruction of white people. I’m about the total liberation of black people. I hate white people. I hate my enemy. . . .”
* On Jews: “I don’t care how much they try to promote the Jewish Holocaust. The African people have suffered a hell of a cost. . . . “
* On Barack Obama and voting: “He’s a puppet on a string. I don’t support no black man running for white politics. I will not vote for who will be the next slavemaster.” Besides, he added, Obama is “a Negro who doesn’t even support reparations for black people in America.”
* On white supremacists: “They’re sissies; they want to put their feelings on a flier. Well, come into the black neighborhood with that rhetoric and we will show you what a strong awakened black man looks like.”
Interesting that just as career Justice Department lawyers had closed in on the case, and obtained default summary judgment against the Black Panthers, default meaning they won the case because the Black Panthers did not show up in court, they were ordered by supervisors to drop the case altogether. The deciders. Acting-Assistant Attorney General Loretta King, appointed by President Barack Obama, and Associate Attorney General Thomas Perrelli, who raised $500,000 for Obama for president.
Makes impartiality on the decision quite suspect, eh?
Mainstream Media Silence On DOJ Failure To Prosecute Black Panthers For Voter Intimidation. A tacit acceptance of the openly illegal activities of the New Black Panthers November 2008, and the flagrant and egregious disregard for the law by the United State Justice Department on that case.
Obviously, justice for those deemed politically worthy and/or convenient.
