Kind And Compassionate Neanderthals

Neanderthals ‘had feelings of empathy’.  The Mercury.

Really?  Yes, compassion was apparently a Neanderthal thing.  Who’d a thought?

The injured or infirm were routinely cared for over this period, according to archaeological findings.

Remains examined by the university’s Department of Archaeology revealed a child with a congenital brain abnormality was not abandoned, but lived until five or six years old.

Remains examined by the university’s Department of Archaeology revealed a child with a congenital brain abnormality was not abandoned, but lived until five or six years old.

A Neanderthal with a withered arm, deformed feet and blindness in one eye was cared for, perhaps for as long as 20 years.

A kind bunch after all.  So the next time the idea of a semi-ape/human comes to mind, remember archaeologists in England determined they were a compassionate bunch that looked out for the welfare of fellow Neanderthals.

Interestingly, they did it themselves, and apparently did not need a government to dictate how it was done.

Democrat Merry-Making Business As Usual

Presidential seal falls during Obama speech; he jokes ‘all of you know who I am’.  LAT.

Even the presidential seal is trying to run away from Obama.  Just like his own fellow  Democrats running away from Obama – Mid term elections : a referendum on Obama Policies.    Journal.us.

But then comes unpredictability knocking.  Biden tells Minn. crowd that he will ‘strangle’ Republicans who complain about budget.  Star-Tribune.  Better to silence them that way than to actually work with them to actually accomplish something bipartisan.

Of course the convenient delusions continue.   Harry Reid: “I had nothing to do with” bad economy.  WP.  The chutzpah!

Obamacare Caper Continues To Concern Voters

The Obamacare Follies.  WS.

And yet another hit piece on health care reform, and the debacle that continues to plague the Democrats as much as its creator and number one pusher, President Barack Obama.  There are several reasons voters are in an uproar.  The costs both direct and indirect, are daunting.  Very simply put, it gets personal.  A patronizing attitude to try to assuage the public and portray it as benign, smacks of contempt for the intelligence of America.

Just the other day in Iowa, during yet another tedious “backyard discussion,” Obama felt compelled to condescendingly remind a concerned voter that “there’s nothing in the bill that says you have to change the health insurance you’ve got right now.” Who’s he kidding? Voters understand that any piece of legislation has unintended consequences. And one consequence of Obamacare will be to force changes in people’s health insurance, even if they are happy with what they have now.

Summation.

Pay attention, class: The central piece of Barack Obama’s presidency is a law that was passed by a narrow partisan margin over a public outcry—a law that increases dependency on government and will do untold damage to American health care. Repeal of that law will presumably require a Republican president in addition to a Republican Congress, so the homework assignment for 2013 is tough but worthwhile. Repeat after us: Don’t let Obamacare reach its third birthday.

Lest your health care become watered down, rationed, and more expensive.

Already, people are considering it seriously.  Voters in 3 states to consider opting out of ‘Obamacare’.  WT.

Not surprisingly, Vulnerable House Democrats run away from their party’s record.  TH.

Mid Term Elections Shaped By Democrats

Delusional liberal elites are still in denial over Obama’s crumbling presidency.  NYT.  The following may give a clue.

Parties Scramble to Adapt to Shifting Political Scene.  WSJ.  The inevitable result of the past two years of straight Democrat partisan control of all three branches of the government.

Look who is toxic.

At least they’re gone.  TH.   The upshot of the next 4 weeks before midterm elections.

The focus for Democrats now is not on legislating, nor on touting their unpopular accomplishments, but rather on attack ads calling into question the personal records of their Republican opponents — taxes, business dealings, divorce proceedings.

Oktoberfest 2010.  September 18 through October 4, 2010.  A celebration held in Munich every year, commemorating the 1810 marriage of Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen and Prince Ludwig of Bavaria.  This year is special, as it marks the 200th year of celebration in the Theresienwiese (grasslands or meadow of Therese) in the heart of Munich.

Beer, music, horse racing, dancing, bratwurst, German mustard, wiener schnitzel, sauerkraut, spitfire roasted chicken, Spätzle, German potato salad, potato dumplings, red cabbage, black forest cake, linzer torte, soft pretzels, rye and dark bread.  Yikes!  So much to do, eat, and drink, so little time.  So don your lederhosen or dirndl dresses, and get going!
