Reviving Immigration Reform On The Border

Obama says border is secure enough to begin legalization.  Washington Times.

…made his first visit to the border since taking office and told activists and immigrant-rights supporters it’s up to them to force Congress to act.

How nice.  Make Congress take responsibility for your promise.

Mr. Obama also is preparing to face voters next year having seen his support among Hispanics drop substantially since the election. His move to reignite the immigration debate could help rebuild that support and, just as important, keep Hispanic voters from supporting Republicans in 2012.

Looks like Hispanics can sense promises in a sales pitch.   Especially when a president loud on 2008 campaign rhetoric to get elected, failed to deliver on his promise of immigration reform in his first year of office.  Funny how other pet projects got completed though.  What a better way to rev up the masses, than to do it in a border sanctuary city partial to illegal immigration, El Paso, Texas.  So noted David Harsanyi.  Immigration Reform? It’s a Trick.

Remember that Obama promised to fight for reform legislation in his first year in office. Instead, Democrats used historic supremacy to cram through a number of legislative items that divided the nation — but no immigration policy. Latinos are imperative to presidents when running for office, less so when in it. Now, in the middle of the most consequential fiscal debate the nation has faced in memory, the administration shifts to immigration reform? We can guess why.

He made a speech in El Paso to drum up votes, but then shortly thereafter flew off to Austin for the fundraiser.  Abortion lobby powers the Democratic money machine.  Washington Examiner.

Dining with President Obama Tuesday night at a private $30,000-a-plate fundraiser in the tony Austin, Texas, neighborhood of Westlake Hills was Cecile Richards, CEO of abortion provider and lobbying powerhouse Planned Parenthood. It was a telling reminder of an underappreciated dynamic in Democratic fundraising.

Can you say, “Pander?”

“Vote.  Immigration policy.  Obama – ‘Lahtino, Lahtino, Lahtino, Lahtino.  Hispanics – ‘He thinks we’re stupid.’  He does think you’re stupid.’”
