Emanuel Talked Directly To Blagojevich About Senate Seat

Emanuel talked directly to gov: source at the Chicago Sun Times reveals Rahm Emanuel had deeper ties to the wheeling and dealing on steering that U.S. Senate seat from Illinois to his list of favored candidates.

He did speak directly to Rod Blagojevich about appointing Valerie Jarrett to the position soon after the election November 4, 2008.  He apparently was pushing for a decision date as well.   No agreements or deals were made.  But there was a change of heart on Jarrett’s part.  She declined to be considered soon thereafter.

Emanuel subsequently submitted a list with different names in mid November.

Sources close to the investigation cite Blago’s conversations  with assistants, and sometimes directions to them, after telephone calls from Emanuel.

Could those be calls caught on wiretaps?

  1. Blagojevich has been so successful at making himself and his office look ridiculous that about a million people are now able to remember and maybe even spell his crazy name — that’s sort of like an accomplishment, right?
