Winning Health Care Reform At All Costs

Charles Hurt at NYP summarized the current Senate dealings on health care reform well.  The same points raised repeatedly here and here, with the all too predictable and frightening end result forseen that will be forced upon America.

Just win, baby! (Even if the people lose),

In less than 12 months, though, all the Democrats’ promises of honesty, openness and common sense have sunken into the same old sordid sewer that has forever defined Washington as the loathsome, dishonest and wasteful place that it is.

The result is the health-care train wreck.

This is what happens when politicians go from idealism to survivalism.

They no longer care what they promised voters. They don’t care what the public wants. And they don’t care about what is right.

All they care about is a victory so that they can claim to have accomplished something.

For Howard Dean, the physician and former chair of the Democratic National Committee, to actually publicly state “Kill the Senate bill,” is quite astounding given his deep Democratic alliances.

This is essentially the collapse of health care reform in the United States Senate. Honestly the best thing to do right now is kill the Senate bill, go back to the House, start the reconciliation process, where you only need 51 votes and it would be a much simpler bill.

“Under Obama’s Plan.”
