Democrats Go After GOP Contributers Via DOJ And IRS

Shutting Up Business.  WSJ.

Is there anything else to demonstrate the integrity of a person?  Now now.  Look at President Barack Obama.  Happily cheering on the IRS to go after 501(c)’s because they might be accepting foreign campaign donations.  Allowing foreigners to influence American elections.  Forgetting how he did the very same thing in 2008.

That didn’t stop President Obama from raising the issue in a Maryland speech last week, saying that “groups that receive foreign money are spending huge sums to influence American elections.” Within hours of the ThinkProgress report, the bully boys at MoveOn.org asked the Department of Justice to launch a criminal investigation of the Chamber. In a letter to the Federal Election Commission, Minnesota Senator Al Franken expressed his profound concern that “foreign corporations are indirectly spending significant sums to influence American elections through third-party groups.” From the man who stole his Senate election in a dubious recount, this is rich.

Their goal.

Democrats claim only to favor “disclosure” of donors, but their legal intimidation attempts are the best argument against disclosure. Liberals want the names of business donors made public so they can become targets of vilification with the goal of intimidating them into silence. A CEO or corporate board is likely to think twice about contributing to a campaign fund if the IRS or prosecutors might come calling.

Hypocrisy.  Since it is okay to go after businesses for donations too.

pardon our skepticism given the ferocity of this White House-led campaign against businesses that donate to political campaigns. Faced with electoral repudiation as the public turns against their agenda, Democrats are unleashing government power to silence their political opponents. Instead of piling on, the press corps ought to blow the whistle on this attempt to stifle political speech. This is one more liberal abuse of power that voters should consider as they head to the polls.

Let’s go back and see.

Klein: Palestinians donate $29,500 to Obama. Gazan brothers’ illegal contributions listed in government election filings (Updated 2x).  RBO.  2008.

Illegal Obama donors: Middle Eastern Arabs.  WND.  2008.

Examples of foreign donations the IRS never got around to investigating.  Quite conveniently.

well….the feds are suing AZ for upholding and enforcing federal law & allowing foreign countries to file court briefs….so yeah….this misuse of federal resources makes sense in year 2 of the age of Sotero….
This paranoid administration is starting to make NIXON at his worst look like a rank amateur…..

  2. Nixon was benign compared to O and pals.

  3. This has roused my curiosity. Why in hell is ofraudma bringing this up? Do he and his puppeteers really think we all have amnesia? What is really behind this move?
In my more hopeful moments I imagine it to be the opening move of a carefully timed exit stage left. On the other hand – he could be inviting investigation/impeachment proceedings in the hope of provoking riots.
Whatever his handlers reasoning- it isn’t good.

PMM….Barry Soetero believes he is impervious to the law….He is about to find out…..

  5. PMM, Bobo and friends think they are above the law. Justice is supposed to be blind. But when some have secondary motives or gain, they will do as they please to suit their purposes.

WCA, No one is above the law. Common sense would dictate they should behave themselves lest the investigations and prosecutions come later when the other guys are in control.

  6. O.K. first off let me put my hand up and confess I don’t know the background that inspired this post (I’m based in the UK)

But isn’t it standard practice (around the world) for foreign governments, businesses, rich individuals to seek to sponsor a government (by whatever means they can) they think might view their interests more favourably ?

Does anyone think the ‘Jewish Lobby’ in the USA does not receive financial support from Israel who wish to see elected senators who are ‘friendly’ to Israel ?

Does anyone think the USA has not channeled money (and arms) to groups in Central and Latin America to bring about a Government more to the liking of the USA?

Have not the USA (and UK) interfered more directly in Iraq and Afghanistan to change the Government of those nations?

Seems a bit rich then to whine about foreign campaign contributions ? 🙄

  7. Duncanr, the U.S. Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 is a law that specifies how much and who can contribute in elections in this country.

    Foreign Nationals
Contributions and donations may not be solicited,14 accepted, or received from, or made directly or indirectly by, foreign nationals who do not have permanent residence in the United States (i.e., those without green cards). This prohibition encompasses all US elections; including federal, state and local elections. 11 CFR 110.20(b).
